June 2025 – CoEHAR Indonesia Hosts the 1st Asia Pacific Conference on THR

On June 14, 2025, CoEHAR Indonesia will host the first event dedicated to research on tobacco smoking and harm reduction strategies at Padjadjaran University in Bandung.
CoEHAR has always focused on studying and analyzing the mechanisms underlying tobacco addiction and its effects on human health, collaborating with renowned international research centers.
For over six years, CoEHAR has actively collaborated with Padjadjaran University, a key reference center for applied research on smoking-related harm across the Asia-Pacific region, and particularly in Indonesia.
In Indonesia, it is estimated that nearly 70% of adult men smoke, posing a serious challenge for public health authorities in tackling an addiction that causes millions of deaths each year.

To better understand the scope of the phenomenon in the region and explore how scientific research can contribute to effective solutions, Prof. Ronny Lesmana, Associate Professor of Physiology at the Faculty of Medicine of Padjadjaran University and researcher involved in the activities of the Replica project, has organized the first conference dedicated to tobacco smoking research in the Asia-Pacific area.

The event, scheduled for June 14, 2025, will feature CoEHAR Director Prof. Giovanni Li Volti and the center’s founder Prof. Riccardo Polosa, who will lead the proceedings. Representatives from the Italian Embassy in Indonesia will also attend.

Further details about the event and the final program will be shared soon.
