The CoEHAR smile operation has started: enrolled the first patient of Smile Study

The operational phase of the Smile Study project, one of the international research projects of the CoEHAR, was created to investigate the impact of reduced-risk products on oral health.

It is impossible to ignore the growing attention toward the aesthetics of the smile and oral health. The health of teeth and gums influence not only our relations with society but also our well being.

To evaluate the risk to oral health represented by cigarette smoking, the CoEHAR, Centre of Excellence for the Acceleration of harm reduction, has launched Smile Study, an 18-months international research project.

Smile Study investigates the impact of reduced-risk products on oral health, testing the hypothesis of harm reduction compared to traditional cigarette smoking.

With the enrollment of the first patient, the project has officially started, thanks to the collaboration of international renew partners: the Addendo Clinic (Catania), the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, the University of Bologna, and research centres in Warsaw (Poland), Chisinau (Moldova) and Bandung (Indonesia).

Joining the project is simple: it is fundamental to be 18-years old or older, be a never-smoker or be a smoker who is eventually willing to switch to electronic cigarettes.

A unique opportunity to contribute to the international research on low-risk nicotine products and be followed up by a team of specialists, through periodic checks.
